Store shelves are filled with over-the-counter teeth-whitening products that promise a brighter smile, but many people find the results disappointing or inconsistent. While these products may seem convenient, they often cannot deliver the noticeable, long-lasting improvements that professional treatment can achieve.
At Ocala Smiles in Ocala, Florida, Drs. Robert Evelyn and Wayne Harper offer professional teeth-whitening solutions that are safe, effective, and tailored to your individual needs. Whether you want to remove years of staining or simply brighten your smile, they can recommend the treatment option that delivers the best possible results.
Genetics and some medications can make your teeth discolored. But usually it’s lifestyle stuff.ย
The main reason is that they’re largely ineffective. If you look at the label, you’ll see that the gels and over-the-counter whitening products are 3% to 10% hydrogen peroxide. They may fade a few surface stains, but the results go away within a few weeks.
You’re getting prescription-strength gel at our office. The in-office version has between 25% and 40%. Take-home trays, 10% to 35%. And you’ll have your white smile for a year or more.
At a young age, our teeth are healthy white. But over time the enamel coating the tooth is so slowly worn down. Causing our teeth to become stained and yellow, which is why teeth whitening is becoming increasingly popular today. There are a few methods for whitening. They include at home and in the office. With in-office treatments, you will see faster results, receive the safest treatment for bleaching the teeth, and yield the whitest smile. So, donโt settle for teeth that have become stained from years of coffee drinking, tobacco use, or just aging. Ask your dentist about whitening options that may be right for you.
It depends on how deep your stains are and which method you’re working with.
You can help your results last even longer by rinsing with water after you eat or drink something that stains your teeth. And go for professional cleanings every six months to keep your smile fresh.
There are zero health benefits to over-the-counter whitening products. You could be bleaching tooth decay and not know it. At the dentist’s office, the team is going to check for things like that first.
Also, the gels on the DIY products can burn your gum tissue. And whitening toothpaste destroys your enamel after years of use.
KรถR is the prescription whitening system used at our office. It’s made to lift extremely deep stains, even Tetracycline stains. KรถR is formulated to reach the color that’s buried deep inside your teeth.
